Want a 14-megapixel iPhone? Will.i.am claims he can make it happen

Black Eyed Peas artist Will.i.am is releasing an accessory that he boasts will turn a regular iPhone 4 or 5 into what he terms a "genius-phone." He tells the UK's Telegraph that the device will enable the iPhone to shoot 14-megapixel photos. "We have our own sensor and a better flash," he said. "... We take over the camera." It's part of the initial release of a series of i.am+ camera products.

Will.i.am. is planning to hold a launch event in London on Nov. 28 and will announce the pricing then. The Telegraph says the line most likely will be sold by Selfridges and Harrods.

TNT exec: Larry Hagman's death will help 'Dallas' ratings

From l., Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and Brenda Strong in TNT’s ‘Dallas’

From l., Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy and Brenda Strong in TNT’s reboot of ‘Dallas’

It’s a plot even one of TV’s most notorious villains would be proud of.

At least one member of TNT brass is banking that the death of Larry Hagman, who played the twisted Texas oilman J.R. Ewing on “Dallas,” will fuel the show’s ratings when it returns for a second season next month.

“Sure, it sounds a bit morbid, but (Hagman) spent most of his life working in show business and would probably have understood,” a high-ranking network exec told the Daily News.

Last season, the “Dallas” reboot averaged 6.1 million viewers — a huge success by cable standards.

Even if Hagman had never found fame as J.R. on “Dallas” in 1978 and again when the kitschy drama was rebooted last year, he would have been fondly remembered for playing opposite Barbara Eden on the 1965 sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie.”

But it was the “Dallas” cliffhanger at the end of the 1980 season - when someone (and there were many suspects) shot him, leaving his fate unknown until the following fall.

You had to be living under a rock that summer to have not heard the catchphrase, “Who shot J.R.?,” which appeared on bumper stickers and T-shirts and in countless comic routines.

A rep for TNT said the network was mourning the loss of Hagman and was horrified that the executive had spoken out of turn.

“All of us at TNT are deeply saddened at the news of Larry Hagman’s passing,” the rep said.

“He was a wonderful human being and an extremely gifted actor. We will be forever thankful that a whole new generation of people got to know and appreciate Larry through his performance as J.R. Ewing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time.”

A trio of trailers: Vectrex Regeneration, Baldur's Gate Enhanced, and Poker Knight

Well, it happened -- Thanksgiving was last week, Cyber Monday is today, and from here on out, we are neck deep in the holiday season. This time of year is particularly busy on the App Store, as various game developers try to get their best products out during the holiday rush, taking advantage of all of those game-hungry users with brand new iDevices. To that end, we've got not one, not two, but three great trailers for upcoming iOS games that we've been waiting for, all ready for you to watch below.

Vectrex Regeneration is first -- this is not just a game, but a complete emulator for the old Vectrex video game console. The app includes more than a few old titles (available for in-app purchase, with likely a few freebies to get you interested), and will be out on the App Store later this week.

Next up is a new trailer for that Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate that we've been expecting on iOS for a while now. As you can see in the video below, this game will be a very faithful (perhaps too faithful?) recreation of the old Baldur's Gate title, except of course that it'll be running on your iPad instead of a computer. Old school fans will probably love this one, but we'll have to wait and see if it can grab a new audience later on this month.

And finally, I haven't heard of Poker Knight until now, but it's piqued my interest big time with the trailer below. The idea looks like a poker game mixed with some fantasy RPG elements, and there's nothing I like better than a genre-crossing puzzle/RPG concoction like that. Poker Knight is due out sometime this month as well, so we'll look for it soon. All three of these look great, and they're just a small sampling of what we're in for from the App Store this coming holiday season.

iPhone 5 Shipping Estimates Begin to Drop to One Week [iOS Blog]

Less than a week after shipping estimates for new iPhone 5 orders through Apple's online stores dropped to two weeks, availability continues to improve with the company's stores for the Asia-Pacific region now quoting one-week estimates. Apple's online store distribution channels for other regions continue to show two-week estimates, but those should similarly drop to one week shortly.

Continued improvement of shipping estimates comes as the holiday shopping season kicks off and Apple works toward its goal of making the device available in at least 100 countries by the end of the year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 getting Premium Suite upgrade

Samsung continues its tradition of hefty upgrades for its Galaxy Note line with the announcement of a new "Premium Suite" upgrade pack for the Galaxy Note 10.1. The upgrade pack, which also includes Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, introduces enhanced "multi-window" multitasking and hover-based "air view" controls for the S Pen -- many features that'll be familiar to owners of the Galaxy Note 2.

Interestingly, Samsung has combined multi-view with its windowed app support, allowing multiple smaller versions of certain Samsung and Google apps to be run in windowed mode, in addition to being docked side-by-side in full screen mode.

Other additions include "easy clip," which lets you tag image cut-outs on the screen and copy them to the clipboard, various improvements to the S Note application, and an updated version of Photoshop Touch.

As the updated software is based upon Android 4.1, it also includes the standard Jelly Bean features we've come to know, including Google's "Project Butter" performance enhancements, and predictive search through Google Now.

The update is available now in Germany; other countries should be following shortly.
